The Adventure That Almost Was
Thongor Against the Gods by Lin Carter Sequel to Thongor and the Dragon City , the next adventure of Carter's barbarian hero has all the right components-- they just don't quite come together. It all makes narrative sense in terms of getting from the first chapter to the last. Sadly, the whole is somehow inexplicably less than the sum of its parts. The main problem is the story shies away from all the best moments. The real question is, if Thongor Against the Gods is so bad
